"I have found a new passion for helping animals. I have always liked animals, but I didn't realize how many need help. I think I will always be active in helping animals for the rest of my life. The animal shelter is struggling right now. They are over populated with about fifty cats and seventy dogs. Animals have to share cages, because they don't have enough room for all of them. The cats are sick with an eye infection and they don't have the money to treat them. The animal shelter could really use the recognition, because of the all the extra help they need." -Kalee Branham

SEPTEMBER SERVICE SITE OF THE MONTH
Green River Animal Shelter
"I have obtained a higher sense of ampathy and responsibility for other beings volunteering with the Animal Shelter, not just myself or humans in general. There are all kinds of cats and dogs at the shelter. All of them have their own story behind what caused them to end up at the shelter. None of those stories can ever be justified. Instead, we just need to learn to either acknowledge that we aren't good with animals and stop encouraging people to just obtain whatever pet that they can Or teach people to be more considerate of pets. Just because animals can't speak, doesn't mean that they can't feel pain, distress or fear"
-Carlos Maldonado
"Service Site[s] of the Month" are places where Bonners can be found volunteering their time day in and day out. These sites are cornerstones in the community and are a helping hand to those in need.
Green River Animal Shelter is our March "Service Site of the Month" Their The shelter cares for a variety of animals on a daily basis, providing food, drink, grooming, exercise, and most importantly a loving temporary home.

It is the shelter's hope that all of their animal friends are relocated to permanent happy homes. They are in need of volunteers, food donations, and help spreading the word about their adoptable animal friends.
Below you will find accounts from Bonners who have served at the Animal Shelter who enjoyed their time working there and encourage you to do the same!

The following is a story from their Facebook page:
"Buddy has such a story to tell. While here at the shelter he was very unhappy. He would bark continuously in his kennel. We tried treats, extra food, and lots of attention just to calm him, but nothing seemed to work. He was adopted to a very loving family. They took him home bathed him, and love him so much. Right after the bath he wanted to go outside to play. And here is where he chose to play at. He just loves water and playing in it. He is very happy now cause he can run and play in the water whenever he wants to.. Thank you for giving him such a loving home. And letting him have the time of his life playing in his favorite thing WATER...." Posted January 17, 2017
